Goa – The Sunshine State of India, one of the most famous destinations for both foreign and Indian tourists. But there\u2019s more to Goa than this. Even I recently found out from one of my cycling friends that there\u2019s more to Goa than just its beaches, churches, and water sports. The real magic of unexplored places in Goa lies in its interiors. As a cyclist now it\u2019s my duty to explore these locations, haha.

After speaking to the folks at Cycling in India once again and a few of my cycling buddies, my Goa tour plan was ready. Thanks to the small size of this beautiful state, we can cycle the complete perimeter and still do only about 250 odd km. Not to forget, exploring scenic places all along the route and the most famous Dudhsagar waterfall. So, what next, I and partners in crime, packed our bags and of course our good old MTB\u2019s and here we were at Bogmaglo beach enjoying the sunrise on a Wednesday morning in November. Ready to start our 4 day Goa cycling tour<\/a><\/strong> aka Tour De Goa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 1 Bogmaglo to Netravali (72 Km)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was early morning, I woke up and went for a short spin to Bogamaglo beach to enjoy the sunrise before we start our tour. Even during the morning hours the hustle and bustle of Goa was quite evident. Returning back how could I not have the delicious and nutritious coconut water as I could find one shop at every corner. All three of us got ready, had breakfast, and started our cycling tour.

Just a few km of pedaling, and the landscape around changed quickly from hotels to beautiful sugarcane fields and rubber plantations. So, this tour was going to very relaxed one with a lot of sightseeing, hiking and other activities scheduled for us. We purposely planned it this way to both explore Goa and have the satisfaction of pedaling through it. After about 30kms we reached our first stop for the day. Had a nice 2nd breakfast because why not? After which we were on our 30-minute hike to Savari waterfall. Probably the October heat had continued in November also as we were feeling in the bright sun at 11:00AM. But, after a dip in the waterfall, it felt like some magical power has charged us to 100% again.

Now, post-lunch we continued our journey cycling through Goa\u2019s countryside and reached Tanshikar Spice Farm in Netravali by around 4:PM. It\u2019s was nice to see the production of spices which we use in our daily life. After relaxing in the spice farm for some time and some tea-biscuits, it was time to leave. Our hotel stay today was a nice homestay in Netravali itself<\/p>\n\n\n\n

. The Goan food served to us at dinner was mouthwatering. It was a good start to our trip, with a flat route and scenic views all along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2: Netravali to Dudhsagar (45km)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you love traveling to Goa, you must have definitely heard about Dudhsagar waterfall. It\u2019s quite a famous one because of its height and natural beauty. The water looks as white as Dudh (Milk). It\u2019s almost always true that beautiful destinations are not easily accessible. Same is the case with this waterfall. Today\u2019s ride may be only 45kms but it\u2019s followed by a 12km hike to the waterfall! It was going to be a long but memorable day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a heavy breakfast and left our homestay at around 9:00 AM. Pedaling slowly and steadily on the steep climbs and uneven terrain we reached the base of the Dudhsagar waterfall trek. Actually, we could have cycled even more and reached only about 3km before the waterfall but we chose to hike instead. We parked our cycles safely near a local\u2019s house and began our trek. Walking through the dense Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary was an awesome feeling. The sound of small water streams, birds chirping and the cool weather was mesmerizing. Even though it was 1:00 PM in the afternoon it didn\u2019t felt like it. Probably because of the dense cover of trees along the trail.

As all of us were starting to get tired and impatient, I heard the sound of the waterfall. We rushed ahead and finally, the magnificent Dudhsagar falls revealed itself. It\u2019s look gorgeous in real life. After taking thousands of photos and multiple dips in the water we started rushing back to our base camp. In the heat of the moment, we had forgotten to eat lunch altogether. But, during return, a simple plate of dal-rice was enough to get us back to our base. Today, was so tiring that I directly crashed into my bed after dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 3: Dudhsagar to Panjim Via Bondla Forest (85km)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My eyes opened directly the next day after a tiring day yesterday. By, the way, we had stayed in tents last night at the base of the Dudhsagar trek base. It was quite comfortable unlike what people might think. After having a simple breakfast of Poha we started our journey back to Panjim. The first few km the route was flat but uneven. This is because we were still cycling in the Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary area. The roads were beautiful and we wish they never ended. Chit chatting and taking photographs we reached Bondla forest in about 3hrs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was around 1:00 PM and we had our afternoon wildlife safari waiting for us at the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. Parking our cycles safely in the designated parking area we had lunch and set out to see the mighty tigers, and leopards present here. It was a good experience to watch them up so close. The safari ended at about 4:00PM and we were off to Panaji. Enjoying street food along the way, grinding up the climbs, and tackling the evening traffic in Goa we reached Panaji during dinner time. Another memorable day of cycling in Goa was done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 4: Panjim to Bogmaglo via Nerul (52km)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Watching the sunrise at Miramar beach I was thinking about the wonderful short and sweet cycling tour we had till now. A feeling of gratefulness ran through my body for me being capable to do all these kinds of adventures. Well, anyway I had to hurry up as today, was a short day in terms of cycling but a long one in terms of sightseeing Goa. The plan was to explore Goa and end the trip in Bogmaglo before catching the evening flight to Mumbai. So, our day started early with a trip to a small fishing village on the outskirts of Goa called Nerul. The Portuguese-style mansions and the iconic Aguada fort were worth visiting. Later our wheels moved towards Divar island to experience the local culture of the Goan people. Finally, we stopped at the crocodile station en route to Bogmaglo to watch these giant crocodiles in their natural habitat. It was around 5:PM when we reached our hotel at Bogmaglo, freshened up, and packed our stuff for our return journey.

Many adventure seekers explore the complete Goa on their visit here. But, pedaling through this sunshine state is an amazing experience.
